As #IndiaFightsCorona, hotels across the country are stepping up in times of crises. These six luxury hotels have taken it in their stride to provide COVID-relief assistance in various ways. By Bayar Jain

1. The LaLit Hotels

In light of the current situation, The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group, and Keshav Suri Foundation have come together to provide COVID-relief assistance in the form of free packaged food sent directly to homes. Currently extended to COVID-positive members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, and acid attack survivors, the assistance can be availed by filling a form on the hotel’s official Instagram account. Additionally, one can even avail mental health counselling services which are provided by the foundation at no extra cost.

2. Leela Palaces, Hotels, And Resorts

Seeing vaccination as a means to overcome the ongoing battle, Leela Palaces, Hotels, And Resorts have launched a vaccination drive for its associates and immediate family members. The cost for this, the press release states, is being borne entirely by the Mumbai-headquartered hospitality chain. As of April 13, all associates of The Leela Palace Jaipur, 60 per cent of the eligible associates at The Leela Palace Chennai, The Leela Goa, the soon-to-open The Leela Gandhinagar, and corporate office members have been vaccinated, notes the release.

As per a report by The Times of India, Radisson Hotels across the nation have tied up with city hospitals to provide quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients. In the same report, Pavan Kumar, general manager of the hotel chain states that beds, care packages and other facilities are being chalked out for the same. As per Hindustan Times, the international hotel chain will be providing rooms, housekeeping services, regular disinfection, and food to the patients, while the hospitals will cater to all medical needs such as PPE kits, masks, medicines, and oxygen.

4. Radisson Gurugram Udyog Vihar

Taking to Instagram to announce this initiative, Radisson Gurugram Udyog Vihar is now delivering special COVID-19 meals for those affected by the virus. Priced at INR 250 per thali, this home-styled meal comprises of dal (lentils), vegetables or paneer, salad, rice, dessert, and four desi ghee chappattis (Indian breads laden with pure ghee). The ever-changing menu is currently delivered within a five-kilometre radius.

5. Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL)

Making the announcement via an issued release, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL)’s welfare wing, Taj Public Service Welfare Trust (TPSWT), has been delivering meals to Mumbai’s medical staff in hospitals and COVID-19 centres. This philanthropic effort is also underway at Ahmedabad, with New Delhi expected to be next in the pipeline. So far, the Indian hospitality company has distributed over 23,000 meals in partnership with TajSats, IHCL’s airline catering brand; individuals like Chef Sanjeev Kapoor; and brands like World Central Kitchen.

Additionally, some of their hotels have also been converted into quarantine facilities for mildly symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. These 11 centres, located across eight cities, come paired with a doctor and nurse to monitor the vital parameters.

6. Hyatt Regency Delhi

Hyatt Delhi Regency and EO New Delhi have teamed up to serve underprivileged COVID-19 affected families and frontline workers in the capital city. Relying on Swiggy Genie to help with the deliveries, the care packets—priced at INR 1—comprise of a set lunch box, mid meal, and dinner for individuals and families, both. Notably, this effort is a part of the Khaana by EO New Delhi initiative.
