Uncertain air travel plans? Here’s how you can save money on rescheduling flights if you book tickets with SpiceJet, IndiGo or AirAsia. By Presha Mahajan
With increasing precariousness surrounding travel during COVID-19 and as states impose several restrictions, airlines like SpiceJet, IndiGo and AirAsia are providing incentives to passengers in order to prevent cancellations of their trips. These three airline companies have re-introduced the Zero Change Fee within the domestic circuit, which implies free flight rescheduling, if required.

AirAsia announced that it will not be charging their customers for changing the dates on tickets booked till May 15. In a press release, they note that these measures have been taken “to ensure that their customers continue to have the greatest flexibility” in case their travel plans change. The release also states that this offer is extended on its new website as well as other major booking channels. “Guests can now make unlimited changes for all bookings and changes made till May 15, 2021, irrespective of the travel dates, without incurring any flight change fees”, says AirAsia, as reported by Bangalore Mirror Times.

SpiceJet has also made provisions for the same, provided travellers adjust their dates at least five days prior to the departure, instead of the usual seven days. According to Bangalore Mirror Times, “the new offering allows passengers to modify tickets with a one-time waiver of the charges without any hassle.” With this offer, passengers who book direct domestic flight tickets between April 17, 2021, to May 10, 2021, can avail a one-time waiver on the change fee—exclusive of any fare differences. However, the travel period for the booked flights should be between April 17 to May 15, 2021.

IndiGo has also taken similar measures allowing passengers to make unlimited changes to flight bookings between April 17 to April 30, 2021. However, flight cancellation charges still have to be borne by the customers.
Rest assured, the airlines have left no stones unturned in sanitisation, deep cleaning and disinfecting the planes to offer safe travel for guests.
