Starting November 25, if you are planning to travel to Maharashtra from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa and Delhi, via railways, roadways or airways, you’ll have to bring along a COVID-19 negative test report (the test should be conducted 72 hours prior to the arrival time), as per a new set of SOPs issued by the state government, amid rising number of Coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, reports also suggest that Maharashtra is even planning to curtail trains and flights travelling to and from Delhi.

“In exercise of the powers, conferred under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the undersigned, in his capacity as Chairperson, State Executive Committee, hereby issue orders to include the SOP as attached herewith as ANNEXURE-A for the persons travelling to Maharashtra by Air, Trains or Road with effect from 25th November 2020, after careful consideration of planning of containment areas and availability of health infrastructure, for the strict implementation by the concerned authorities of all the departments in the State of Maharashtra. The said SOP will be in addition to the SOPs issued earlier by the State of Maharashtra,” the order signed by Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar read, as quoted by Mumbai Mirror.

Soon after the Maharashtra State Government’s decision, even the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started screening outstation train passengers for any symptoms of Coronavirus at major railway stations. While all train passengers will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test report, taken not earlier than 96 hours, those without a report will be tested and screened with the help of antigen kits, in case suspected to be showing any symptoms.

Furthermore, those entering Maharashtra borders via road will be screened at check posts, and if found symptomatic will have to undergo antigen tests. And, in case a person turns out to be COVID-19 positive, he/she will be admitted to the COVID-19 Care Centre at their own expenses.

“We already have screening camps at airport and train stations. With this, we will also arrange for antigen kits testing at railway stations. However, patients will also be referred to laboratories, in case of crowding at railway stations,” Additional Municipal Commissioner, Suresh Kakani, was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
