Handcrafted and baked from scratch, each bread that comes out of this bakehouse is made with immense care, without mixes or preservatives. Suchali’s Artisan Bakehouse was inspired by the founder’s trip to Europe which led her, Suchali, to eventually develop a brand focused on authentic craftsmanship. From vegan, to eggless and gluten-free options, there’s something for everyone. Try out their variations of the sourdough or the croissant loaf, which captures the buttery softness of a croissant in the form of a loaf.

Sibang bakery is a quaint little gem tucked away in the DLF South Point Mall, Gurugram, run by a Korean expat, Jung Min Woo. Sip on some coffee, tea or a fruit smoothie and browse through their selection of breads and other freshly baked goods – their banana bread sounds scrumptious.

Founded in 2007, the Red Moon Bakery brings a slice of Canada to Delhi. The focus is all on the baking, without the extra fluff of aesthetics. Try out their cinnamon raisin bread, which they suggest makes for the most delectable french toast or the ciabatta, an Italian white bread served usually as a starter or had with soup. There’s a lot more to choose from – pies, muffins, bagels, quiches – the list goes on. So take your time perusing and get some freshly baked goods right to your doorstep.

Quality ingredients, carefully selected recipes and a love for all things café – this is the trinity of The Artful Baker, located in Delhi’s bustling Khan Market (they also deliver!). Run under the helm of head baker, Mayank Gupta, the Miche Artisan Bakery has a clearly defined purpose – to provide high-quality and well-loved bread made with ingredients that are sourced locally, in an attempt to promote sustainable production. The bakery embodies the art of baking bread, with attention paid closely to adapting global recipes and techniques to the Indian context. The miche, after which the bakery is named, is a large round loaf of bread that, for the bakery, is the ‘perfect loaf’. From their wide collection, try their signature Black Miche Sourdough or the classic miche. The bakery also delivers a range of condiments and cheese to pair with their breads.

For around a decade, The Altitude Store has been bringing  a range of certified organic and natural products to Delhi. From sweet to savoury flavours, their menu of breads is extensive, and it includes vegan, eggless and gluten-free options. You could go for a cuban, a baguette like loaf, the brioche bread, with its rich and tender crumb or the choco ginger bread. Whatever you choose, you’re in for a win.

Haven’t we all dreamt of a chocolate factory after watching Willy Wonka tour through his on the silver screen? Inspired by the famous Roald Dahl character, Chefs and professional chocolatiers, Radhika and Simar, founded Rosarte. While the chocolate may be the star of the show, they do have a few loaves you have to try out, like the Espresso Banana Loaf or a luscious lemon loaf topped with a ruby chocolate glaze. Indulgence at its best, and that too from the comfort of your home.
