Das Khaman House

Let’s start this list with the star of all Gujarati snacks. To savour the best khaman in Ahmedabad, head to Das Khaman in Navrangpura. Established in 1992, the popular eatery dishes out a wide range of khamans. There’s Toast Khaman, there’s Greenfry Khaman, there’s Sada Khaman, there’s Mariwala Khaman, and there’s Dahiwala Khaman too. One of the most legendary food joints in Ahmedabad, Induben Khakhrawala was started by Induben Sumanbhai Jhaveri in 1964. She is credited to turn the humble khakhra into a multifaceted food option. The different types of khakhras available here include Nylon Khakhra, Handmade Khakhra, Combo Khakhra and Khakhra Shots. They also serve namkeens, cookies, sweets, bhakhris, mukhwas, and more. Jassuben Pizza

You may have had those in-vogue woodfired pizzas, but are you really a pizza lover if you haven’t had Ahmedabad’s Jasseben Pizza? Go and grab your bite of this desi version of the Italian delicacy at Jashuben Old Pizza in Navrangpura. Established in 1975, the iconic eatery serves six kinds of pizza. These include Italian Pizza, Jain Pizza, Cheese Baked Pizza, Plain Cheese Pizza, Capsicum Onion Pizza, and Double Cheese Pizza. They have an impressive and wide range of sandwiches too. Their base is homemade and their sauces are more on the sweeter side.

Shreeji Krupa Bombay Vadapav

This is hands down the best vadapav you’ll eat in Ahmedabad. What makes their vadapavs so special is the generous amount of cheese that goes into their making. They also have a butter version which is equally divine. Bite into happiness as you relish their popular dabeli. They serve their vadapavs with a tangy and spicy green chutney and garnish them with loads of grated cottage cheese. The eatery is run by Yashwant Apkare and remains chockablock with foodies during peak hours. They also serve sandwiches and patties.

Chandravilas Restaurant

This 120-year-old eatery is known for serving the most delicious Gujarati snacks in Ahmedabad. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a regular here. Even Mahatama Gandhi is said to have visited the eatery to congratulate the owners after India’s independence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been a fan. From the crispy gaathiyas to the evergreen dhoklas and ghee-soaked jalebis, their snacks platter is a little heaven of sorts for food lovers. Chandravilas ki Jalebi is the most popular in town. Their Gujarati Thali comprises of an assortment of snacks like paapdi, fafda, gota, patra, samosa along with pooris and dry potato sabzi and sev tameta nu shak.

Ambika Dalwada

At Ambika Dalwada, you’d be compelled to stop your calorie counter for a moment. Their crunchy and spicy lentil fritters are that good. No, really. Any Ahmedavadi worth their spice will tell you that locals swear by Ambika Dalwada’s name. They have several branches in town. All remain packed with customers at any given time of the day. They dish out moong dal fritters, which are made using lots of green chilies, garlic, and salt. If you are travelling to Ahmedabad in the monsoons, you can’t afford to return without trying their delicious fritters. You should also try their Khiru.

Iscon Gathiya

Gathiya is one of the most-loved Kathiawadi snack. While there are many famous gathiya shops in Ahmedabad, Iscon Gathiya is where you must try this crunchy snack. They serve Vanela Gathiya, Papdi Gathiya, and Fafda Gathiya. They started in 2008 as a modest gathiya shop and now have several branches in town. Other popular items on their menu include thepla, jalebi, chips, khaman, bhajiya, and Suki-Bhaji.
