Bombay Sapphire hosted an exclusive launch of the limited edition premium gin Bombay Sapphire Sunset at Saz on the Beach against the serene backdrop of Morjim beach in Goa. And Travel+Leisure India & South Asia stopped by for a tasting! By Ralan Kithan
With sunset views and the glimmering waves of the ocean backdropping the scene, Bombay Sapphire launched a limited edition gin—the Bombay Sapphire Sunset— on October 19 at Saz on the Beach in Goa. In a quick trip to the sunshine state, Travel+Leisure India & South Asia joined the gin makers for a tasting of the new tipple.
Booze on the Beach
The unforgettable Bombay Sapphire Sunset Launch included celebrities, tastemakers, media, and influencers from across cities. This glitzy affair was made better with the excellent ambience of Saz on the Beach, a beach-side restaurant that was done up in floral decor for the evening. The vibes resonated with all things quintessentially Goan: delicious food, fun, partying, and of course, stellar alcohol!
Speaking about the evening, Adtnu Tiwari, senior brand manager, Premium White Spirits, Bacardi India, said, “With the influx of gin trends in India and new-age consumers’ keenness for experimentation, we are committed to creatively champion artistry and versatility with our products. The Bombay Sapphire Sunset is a unique take on the premium gin, with botanicals inspired by the glorious and ethereal beauty of the Goan sunset. With its launch in Goa, we aim to provide our consumers with innovative experiences with the added element of exclusivity.”
Sampling the Bombay Sapphire Sunset
Inspired by the Goan sunset, the new Bombay Sapphire Sunset lists 10 botanicals sourced sustainably with exotic new botanicals that include Indian white cardamom, golden turmeric, and Spanish mandarin. No wonder, then, it made for the ideal sundowner drink on the beach! Each sip of the drink plays with notes that add warmth and depth to the spirit. The Indian Cardamom fuses with the sweetness of the Spanish Mandarin, while hints of the golden turmeric add an earthy undertone to the drink.
While delicious savoured neat, the gin’s versatility also allows for a variety of cocktails. We recommend one with tonic water or ginger ale, garnished with an orange wheel or star anise. Irrespective, the aromatic spirit makes the ideal companion for an evening with family or friends!
Bombay Sapphire Sunset is currently available in a 750ml bottle in Goa, with plans to expand to other domestic markets in the coming few months.
