Being a popular getaway from Mumbai and Pune, Panchgani is flocked by travellers throughout the year, with weekends being typically crowded. No wonder then that the hamlet is home to some good cafes and restaurants that add to the overall experience. Here, we list some of the best cafes in Panchgani that the foodie in you would love. One can never really go wrong with a hill station like Panchgani. Nestled in the sylvan Sahyadris at 4,400 ft above sea level, the hill station promises a restful outing away from the maddening world. Take quiet walks with your special someone, chug a beer or two, explore the charming old colonial cottages, and allow the beautiful scenery to help you unwind.

While you won’t find many gourmet restaurants here, you can always indulge in some delicious street food or try Panchgani’s famous sugarcane juice and strawberry ice cream. From old-fashioned bakeries and ice cream joints to newly-opened chic cafes and modest eateries, there’s no dearth of eating-out places in Panchgani.

There are restaurants that serve excellent Pao Bhaji and there are roadside eateries, where regulars flock to savour some hot Keema Pao and tea. Some places also do great Gujarati Thalis, while others serve authentic Maharashtrian seafood delicacies.

When it comes to cafes, Panchgani does not disappoint either. Allow us to share our recommendations.

If you can’t imagine your holidays without your dose of pizzas and chocolates, look no further than The Local Cafe. The waffles and shakes are pretty amazing too. You’d also love their desserts and sandwiches. The interiors of the cafe are all yellow and bright. Framed artworks adorn the walls. Their fresh strawberries with cream come highly recommended.

Ever dined inside a cave? If not, Den Dine Cafe is where you should be. Housed inside an actual cave in Godavali, this cafe is popular among adventure lovers. Go there on a cool starry night and enjoy a meal with your mains. The cafe can be reached by a flight of stairs and a narrow pathway. The poha, maggi, and tea they serve make it worth the effort. They have placed wooden benches and stools that blend well with the cave.

Most travellers flock to the cafe for their dose of desserts. But that’s not all. Cafe Berry’s serves delicious pizzas, sandwiches, garlic bread, and more. Don’t miss their milkshakes. If you are visiting Panchgani with your family, Cafe Meher is the best option for you. The cosy cafe is almost iconic among regulars, thanks to its authentic and absolutely mouthwatering Parsi and Iranian specialties. Located right opposite the Panchgani ST Stand, the cafe also serves South Indian and Chinese dishes. Try their Chicken Farcha, Berry Pulao, Chelo Kebab, Mawa Cake, and Kashmiri Kahwa.

Housed inside Basilica Resort, Cafe Basilica is every bit charming and cosy. The strictly vegetarian cafe dishes out yum sandwiches, pasta, fries, and pizzas. Their coolers like Pina Colada and Mango Tango are much loved. If coffee is what floats your boat, try their Mochaccino. They even serve complimentary garlic bread. We checked out their Google reviews and patrons have only nice things to say about the ambiance.

Seafood lovers, please unite. This one’s for you. While most hill stations are about waffles and coffee, it’s always nice to treat your tastebuds to some regional fare. When in Panchgani, head to Cafe Arsh and Seafood to devour authentic Konkani and Maharashtrian seafood. The humble establishment serves some of the tastiest food in town. We recommend their Fish Biryani, Prawn Fry, and Chicken Samosa. Do ask them for their homemade Goan pickle. You’re welcome.

One of the most aesthetic cafes in Panchgani, this casual joint is all about good vibes that one associates with hill stations. Their limited but every bit delicious menu features burgers, sandwiches, fries, assorted eggs, and omelets. But you wouldn’t go there for these. It’s their Bun Maska and Bun Jam that will have you at the first byte. Enjoy these with a cup of hot chai and let the serenity of Panchgani do its magic.

Just as you all love ending your meals with a helping of ice cream, we thought it would be nice to end this listicle with the same. Any trip to any hill station across India is incomplete without ice cream. After all, enjoying ice creams in the cold is always much more fun than in summers. Head to the legendary Hilltop Ice Cream in Bhim Nagar to satiate your ice cream cravings. Established in 1959, they are still serving the same taste with lots of love and natural flavours. Try their Strawberry With Whip Cream, Chocolate With Whip Cream, and Cold Coffee.
