Eat out under the open skies and make the most out of Pune winters. We do suggest that you call these alfresco spots in advance! By Naina Atri

The way we dine out has changed drastically over these past two years. Along with scrumptious meals and a convivial ambience, we’re now on the look out for COVID-friendly restaurants. With varying restrictions and protocols, a call to a restaurant a few hours ahead of dinner has almost become routine. With all these changes, an already charming dining experience is now elevated as perhaps the most preferred – alfresco dining is the way to go. Pune winters make meals under the open skies all the more idyllic.

Here are 7 alfresco dining spots in Pune to check out this winter

1
Malaka Spice

Malaka Spice is a Southeast Asian inspired restaurant nestled in the by-lanes Koregaon Park and was established in the year 1997. The menu is inspired by the founding couple’s – Praful and Cheeru Chandawarkar – extensive travel through Southeast Asia. Recipes carry influences from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan and Cambodia. The restaurant also embodies a Farm To Table philosophy. The flagship restaurant in Pune has a relatively large outdoor space marked by a Badam Tree.

From smaller wooden tables to the more private cabanas, the large space is always buzzing with excitement. There Sunday brunches are known to be expansive and scrumptious feasts. You could also sip on their cocktails and watch the sun set, as the low terracotta walls allow one to get an unobstructed view of the Pune sky.

The Shisha Jazz  Café, as the name suggests, celebrates all that is jazz. The café has hosted performances by musicians from across the world, making their live nights and relaxed ambience their greatest charm. They also serve delicious Iranian food, though their wood fired thin crust pizzas just as good. Head to the café for a night out that won’t burn a hole through your pocket!

The Daily All Day

The Daily All Day, a Bandra favourite, is also in Pune! The indoor-outdoor space, inspired by the news, is defined by warm beige tones, the expanse of the restaurant, live music and of course, its food. Choose from their comfort foods, the ‘healthy menu’ or pair the bar bites with a boozy cocktail. The fact that it’s pet friendly makes it all the more alluring.
