You Have To Watch These 4 Indian Food Shows On Netflix This Weekend!

Apart from enjoying the taste of food, do you also wonder how it’s prepared? If yes, then brace yourself ’cause your weekend just got sorted! Netflix has some of the best Indian food documentaries and shows that will leave you spellbound, and famished, of course. By Divyansh Mehta and Bayar Jain

Indian cuisine uses the whole palette of flavours—spicy, sour, sweet and hot—all at the same time, making it something that wants to jump off the plate,” says Floyd Cardoz, chef and author of One Spice, Two Spice.

Here are some of the best Indian food shows on Netflix that will give you a glimpse of the diversification of our Cuisine –

1. Raja, Rasoi Aur Anya Kahaniyaan

You probably wonder how the spices of Rajasthan are different from that of Karnataka and how the vast variety of Indian cuisines continue to exist, or came into existence. Raja, Rasoi Aur Anya Kahaniyaan is one such show that covers the historical aspect of how regional flavours have come into existence, and how it has evolved over centuries. The show also features a combination of recipes using local herbs, rare fowls and elaborates preparation methods. Food writers and enthusiasts share their anecdotes on food habits of Maharajas and how these nuances reflect in our current culinary habits. The show is summed up in 11 episodes.

2. Itihaas Ki Thaali Se

India’s centuries-old connect with other cultures has led to the development of certain culinary staples that are worth exploring. This series puts the spotlight on the foundation of various Indian dishes in each episode. The programme focuses on attracting not just food enthusiasts but also the general population. Its nature of conveying the background of what you are probably eating right now in an animated format would definitely catch your attention. The show concludes in four short episodes.

3. Twist Of Taste

Experiencing the fusion of modern and traditional historic blend, Chef Vineet Bhatia and Vikas Khanna travel all across India to taste different cuisines, while exploring their history and modern-day influences. The show covers various cities in India under five seasons.

4. Street Food: Asia

While the show traverses across Asia, episode three is reserved for Delhi. During the episode, savoury chaat is devoured and ghee-loaded chole bhature is binged—all while unravelling the myriad family stories and political histories that underline the dish.
