Must-visit cafes in Goa to make your trip more memorable

1. Sunburn Beach Club, Vagator

Asia’s biggest electronic dance music festival, Sunburn, has launched its first beach club, replete with Ozran beach-views, sun-bathed green cliffs, a sky deck, indoor lounges, and a pool deck glistening under Goa’s ever-present sunshine. The North-Goan inspired shack exudes a laid-back party vibe, as is evident by the opening night when the COMO designers Collective presented a fashion show followed by a dance floor graced by DJs like Deepesh Sharma, Julia Bliss, and Blithe among others. Located at a short drive from Panjim, the tropical beach club comes lined with sunbeds and large calico umbrellas, bamboo-canopied cabanas, and a range of continental and European delicacies to gorge on.

2. Greenspace Bistro, Vagator

Thriving on the notion of eco-tourism, Greenspace Bistro is all about organic and healthy food, with a serving of happiness on the side. The pet-friendly eatery encourages guests to leave their devices aside and soak in the tranquillity of the space instead, all while biting into an array of Napolitano artisanal pizzas, burgers, dumplings, and smoothies. To add to the pluses, the cafe promotes locally-sourced ingredients but also asserts its commitment towards the environment by providing eco-friendly cutlery like bamboo straws, etc.

3. Petisco Goa, Panaji

Portuguese for ‘snack’, Petisco Goa fuses Goan ingredients with Mediterranean dishes to bring an unparalleled flavour bomb. The cosy, rustic ambience of the eatery radiates sheer comfort. Offering a list of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, along with an equally long list of cocktails, the new restaurant promises a treat for the eyes and tongue, both! The fact that the restaurant relies on applying modern techniques to local produce helps it stand a notch higher than others.

4. Brewed Black, Panaji

Straying away from the typical beach cafes of the state, Brewed Black is dressed in a snug decor akin to one’s regular home, making it a great spot to sip on delicious coffee while you dish out last-minute presentations and reports (a process facilitated further by the cafe’s free WiFi). Known for their elaborate menu boasting of a bouquet of pizzas and tubs of BBQ chicken wings, Brewed Black nails it with their customisable preparations.

5. Hideaway, Vagator

If you’re looking for a fun evening full of great food and amazing live performances, then Hideaway is the place to be! Weekly gigs aplenty, this cafe-cum-performing-space is a backpacker’s delight. When here, gorge on Urak cocktails while flipping through the books lined across the shelves as peacock dances in the distance. Head here for a coffee date as the year-old cafe is known for their lattes and strong brews.

6. Babka, Anjuna

A cafe reminiscent of European-style streets, Babka comes splattered with graffitied walls, hanging flower pots, and drool-worthy baked goodies. Despite being snuggly tucked away at a corner in Goa’s famous Anjuna, the menu here is sure to take you on a trip down Parisian memory lane. Think pancakes, freshly-baked loaves, croissants, pesto-filled sandwiches, and more.

7. Verandah, Mandrem

This hillside gem is a brainchild of Meghana and Matt, two former corporates who left their jobs owing to their collective love for food. The result is a seamless blend of a gin joint with a pizzeria and bakery, all while staying organic. Seated under a canopy of trees with a backdrop of mellow jazz ringing through the air, this cafe comes paired with its own organic garden, in turn celebrating ‘farm-to-table’ in its truest sense.

8. Cafe LaDiDa, Sangolda

A home full of sweet treats, Cafe LaDiDa is tucked away in a little nook of Paper Boat Collective, a boutique store of Goa. On any given day, this quaint joint smells of heavenly cupcakes, meringues, and tarts interlaced with whiffs of coffee.
