TL Reviews: Cosy Box, Cannes Film Festival's Official Food Partner Opens In Delhi

The newest entrant to South Delhi’s dining scene is Cosy Box, the official food partner of Cannes Film Festival. Here’s what you should check out at the India chapter of this iconic restaurant.

Cosy Box
The restaurant features a modern bar that comes alive in the evenings.

Founded by Jean Bernard Fernandez-Vesini in 2008, Cosy Box was meant to showcase luxury brands like Degrisogono, Arman De Brignac, Gucci, and more at Cannes Film Festival, the largest gathering in the creative marketing community.

In Delhi, the restaurant is being introduced by restaurateurs Akshay Anand and Aashish Begwani. Spread over 7500 square feet at One Golden Mile, Cosy Box’s outdoor dining area features a patio replete with sun umbrellas overlooking verdant greens and a gurgling water fountain.

Inside, plush seating and chrome accents set the mood. The menu is a mix of Asian, Indian, Turkish, and European cuisines. The drinks menu features classic whiskies, wine, and rosés as well as modern and innovative cocktails.

APPETISERS

The Chongquin Chicken is packed with umami and makes for the perfect beginning. Stir-fried with dry chillies and cashews tossed with soy and Chinese wine, it is crunchy and tangy and will surely have you reaching out for a second serving. The orange-scented prawn har gao has a pleasant citrusy flavour. Go easy on the chilli sauce because it can very well burn your tongue.

MAIN COURSE

For the main course, I went the Turkish way and opted for lamb Urfa, which turned out to be the highlight of my experience. Urfa is a type of Turkish kebab; at Cosy Box, it is served with a certain level of theatrics. It comes to the table on a hanging skewer. The server pulls down a piece, places it on a chilli butter lavash, sprinkles a generous amount of pickle, sumac onion, and garlic toum, and hands it to you in the form of a taco. The kebab is succulent and the garlic toum is the perfect accompaniment.

From the European section of the menu, I chose the quintessential lamb chops. It comes with a side of cheesy roasted potato, black rice risotto, and porcini reduction. The lamb is tender and the porcini reduction drizzled on top of it gives the dish a nutty, earthy flavour.

DESSERT

Tiramisu topped with mascarpone cheese and cocoa powder felt heavenly. It wipes off all the flavours of the main course from your palate and replaces it with the bitterness of espresso and the mild sweet taste of the cream. Alternatively, Rocher Belgium Chocolate comes with a chocolaty hazelnut crunch that is superbly complemented by the raspberry gelato.

DRINKS

The drinks menu at Cosy Box caters to both seasoned and novice drinkers. The slick bar inside the restaurant serves a vast assortment of whisky, wine, champagne, rose, vodka, tequila, and more. If gin is your poison, go for Berry Potter with Beefeater gin, kaffir lime, and blueberry. It is a smooth drink with subtle notes of blueberry notes and lime. If you are looking for something more tropical and stronger, I suggest La Rosita. It has Prosecco, Martini Fiero, fresh lime juice, and fruits such as oranges and berries, and makes for a perfect finale.
