Best seafood restaurants in Mangaluru

The best in town, Machali, as the name suggests, dishes out the most delicious fish delicacies. Ask for their evergreen Tawa Fry Pomfret and thank us later. They are famous for their wholesome fish thalis. A typical platter at Machali features rice, a vegetable, sandige fritters, and fish curry. Wash your meals down with a glass or two of fresh coconut milk. Their Prawns Ghee Roast is also a bestseller.

Established in 2002, this family-owned restaurant has a special place in the heart of Mangaloreans. They are almost synonymous with ghee roast. Some of their most-loved specialities include Chicken Ghee Roast, Chicken Uruval, Crab Ghee Roast, Anjal Tawa Fry, Bangud Naked Fry, and Boothai Nippat. They also serve yum caramel custard. Pair your ghee roasts with a plate of crispy Neer Dosa and fall in love with coastal food all over again. They also serve Chinese and North Indian fare, just FYI.

One of the most iconic restaurants in Mangaluru, Giri Manja’s has a separate fanbase. Tucked away in the city’s Car Street, this modest eatery is flocked by patrons and tourists throughout the day, who don’t mind walking a bit to come here for their Fish Tawa Fry. Some of the bestsellers on their menu include Muru Tawa Fry, Anjal Tawa Fry, Nang Tawa Fry, Koddai Tawa Fry, Bangude Tawa Fry, and Prawns Tawa Fry. Every town has that one eatery that never goes out of fashion. For Mangaluru, it’s Hotel Narayana. The nondescript eatery has recently been renovated. However, one doesn’t visit such food joints for their ambience. It’s the lip-smacking food that works wonders. The restaurant serves amazing fish platters with rice, fish curry, and fried fish. The fish they fry depends on the catch of the day. They are jampacked during lunch hours. Popular items include Sauthekayi, Pulimunchi Fish Curry, and White Pomfret Fry.
