Tucked in a little corner of New Delhi’s Khan Market area, Tera Vita is everything you can expect from an Italian restaurant. Pizza, pasta, breads, salads, and more, the restaurant brings forth a menu full of authentic cuisines straight from Italy. By Tanvi Jain
It was one of those days, when I was craving a good Italian meal all day long. So, after work, I decided to checkout this place called Tera Vita in Khan Market. As I entered the restaurant, my first question was, am I in a doll house? Yes, the soothing pink decor, the cosiness of the space, everything made it look like a cute doll house. The little kid inside me who grew up playing with Barbie dolls, was already impressed by the look of the restaurant, its ambiance, and its seating arrangement.
As I grabbed a table, and the menu arrived, I was confused just to see the number of options they had, because generally when it comes to Italian food, all we manage to think about are pizzas, pastas and garlic breads, but here it was like an entire Italy on a single platter.
I gave up and asked my servitor to help. He suggested I start with something healthy and brought me their Fit Salad. That’s how my Italian food trail began. Next up was the Oozy Bread, which was so soft that its creamy, buttery structure, just melted in my mouth. For some refreshing, flavourful drink on the side, I went for strawberry Aloe Vera Iced Tea, which I would say is a must try.
For a creamy, cheese filled Italian classic, their Practical Burrata made with handmade sourdough crisps deserves your attention, its other cousins being Vintage Burrata and Beet Burrata. Next was the signature dish of Milan called Milanese – layered aubergine and tomato served with smoked scaromorza – south Italian cow’s milk cheese, and Parmesan.
Finally, it was time for the staple pizza, for which again they had at least seven options. I was recommended the Boom Pizza, made of Italian buffalo mozzarella, arugula, cherry tomatoes, Parmesan, aged balsamic. How was it? Let’s just say an authentic Italian restaurant like Tera Vita sure takes its pizza very seriously.
As my dinner came to an end, it was time for my favourite part of the meal, the dessert. Although, first I went for the classic baked cheesecake, but the next recommendation called Panna Cotta, which is basically vanilla bean served with caramel sauce was something I would want to eat again and again.
After I was done with a satisfying meal, I couldn’t stop myself from personally thanking the chef for this delicious dinner. Chef Pawan Bill told me that the only reason they could make something like this for their customers is because they never compromise on raw materials, and the quality of ingredients. He added, that the credit for all the authentic Italian flavour goes to the Italian chefs they work with in order to learn this kind of cooking. Although, all their dishes are ordered many times, but the one dish that’s maximum in demand is their Truffo Pasta – Linguini with fresh black truffle gallore.
An amalgamation of classic Italian cuisine and soft interiors, with a well-lit atmosphere and upbeat music, I would recommend Tera Vita, both for an evening with your friends, as well as a date with your partner.
