When vacationing, often it’s the hotels and their culinary offerings that make or break a holiday. After all, one of the markers of a good hotel is its food and the ones in India ace that game—and how! Understanding this, the third edition of Travel + Leisure India & South Asia’s readers’ choice Delicious Dining Awards (DDA 2022) thanked and awarded the best restaurants in hotels for their stellar job.

Delicious Dining Awards (DDA) 2022, organised by Travel + Leisure India & South Asia, highlights, celebrates, and awards India’s best restaurants, bars, beverages, and personalities, as chosen by those who know the Indian culinary scene best—You! Over the years, the celebrations have seen the best restaurants from the culinary industry find a spot on the coveted list. This year, things were bigger, better, and fresher!

Delicious Dining Awards 2022 felicitated the best restaurants in hotels as chosen by readers through an online voting process. The three-months-long cut-throat competition, however, was spearheaded by the diners themselves. Over the course of the voting period, readers and diners were given the opportunity to nominate and vote for their favourite restaurants in hotels across categories. Readers could vote for restaurants in hotels that offer the Best Sunday Brunch or those that pamper with the Best Service. They even cheered for those all-day dining restaurants that cater to late-night binges, new restaurants that made a mark in the culinary world, or those that bring delicious meals right at your doorstep with their food delivery service. There were cuisine-specific categories too—think, Best European Cuisine, Best Pan-Asian Cuisine, Best Indian Cuisine, Best Bakery, and Best Farm-to-table.

The fierce battle ended with a celebration and awards ceremony at Pullman New Delhi Aerocity on July 19. But who won and got the most votes? Check it out below!

DDA 2022: The best restaurants in hotels, chosen by you!

ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata was envisioned keeping royalty in mind, and hence exudes elegance. The Grand Market Pavilion elevates this elegance further with its multicuisine offerings. Inspired by the Hogg Market in Kolkata, this vibrant restaurant has six different food theatres serving three buffet meals. The dining venue caters to all kinds of palates, making it an ideal pick for family outings. Don’t forget to try fried prawns, dumplings, and chocolate souffle while here.

Known to serve authentic Japanese delicacies, the fare at Megu extends beyond the usual sushi and sashimi. The restaurant invites its patrons to indulge in asparagus tempura, crispy salmon skin, spicy tuna, Alaskan king crab, and more. Here, exclusivity is redefined. The multiple dining halls, including the Buddha Hall, make family dinners an intimate affair. The eight-seater Kimono, a private dining room, promises exclusivity. Irrespective of where you choose to be seated, you and your family will be served unparalleled Japanese dishes.

An innovative concept that brings the marketplace to the restaurant, Farmers Basket at Pluck asks guests to choose from a wide range of fresh produce and ingredients, along with the cuisine and cooking styles—Asian, Indian, or continental. The team of culinary experts then cooks the dishes as per your preference. The best way to enjoy the spread is on their Champagne Sunday Brunch, where international cuisine meets the finest champagne. There is also a selection of pickles, spices, artisanal pastas, and cheeses that can be purchased.

This poolside restaurant offers a serene ambience to spend lazy Sunday afternoons in Hyderabad. The meal is made from handpicked ingredients and organic produce in an interactive kitchen. The menu has been designed keeping all age groups in mind. While your kids gorge on wraps, cupcakes, and macaroons, you can choose from popular regional classics or contemporary international delights, all of which are accompanied by a bevy of beverages. You can enjoy the brunch in the al fresco area of the restaurant.

Inspired by Michelin-starred chef David Myers’ travels to Tokyo, the recently-launched ADRIFT Kaya at JW Marriott Hotel New Delhi Aerocity is a modern take on the Japanese izakaya (a type of bar) and offers a flavour-forward and ingredient-focused menu. Guests are greeted by the indigo-dyed wooden floors, handmade beading hanging from the ceiling, and aroma of freshly grilled yakitori. There’s also an open kitchen and sushi bar that offers counter seating. The highlight of the space is the 360° bar. The cocktail menu has been inspired by the fruit-forward drink culture of Ginza district in Tokyo.

The newest addition to the F&B offerings at The St. Regis Mumbai, Sette Mara is a lounge, bar, and kitchen whose menu is curated with aromatic spices and ingredients originating from the Levant. Chef Reuben has shaped the experience, preserving the tradition and family-sharing style of the Middle Eastern countries. The menu opens with freshly-tossed salads and mezzes, and ends with house made ice-creams and desserts. The Mangal Grill, a traditional Middle Eastern charcoal grill features dishes such as Adana kebabs, joojeh kebabs, and corn ribs; and the Negroni Bar offers a collection of signature negronis and artisanal cocktails.

AnnaMaya, a modern foodhall in Delhi’s Aerocity is the best example of the farm-to-table movement. Serving dishes made with locally and sustainably sourced ingredients, AnnaMaya boasts of a unique mindful dining experience. The restaurant stays true to its motto, ‘Eat Mindful. Shop Artisanal. Raise Awareness’. Choose from a selection of artisanal cereals at breakfast to go with made-to-order fresh juices, or browse through its intriguing retail section that has numerous artisanal products.

Haveli Dining at Aramness Gir offers Gujarati cuisine alongside dishes from around the world. There is a rotational menu, so every dining experience is different. Breakfast begins with freshly baked bread and muffins, fresh fruits, signature granola, preserves, and a platter of Gujarati snacks. Savour the Gujarati Swaminarayan thali, whose ingredients come from the gardens of the property or from the nearby village.

One of the few things that makes Bukhara the rightful recipient of this award is a menu that has remained unchanged since 1978. At this premier restaurant, the past comes alive through flavourful dishes from the North-West Frontier of India. Its mouth-watering selection of kebabs, tandoori, tikkas, and the famed dal bukhara, has won the restaurant many accolades, both in India and around the world, making it a legendary dining destination. Round off your meal here with a creamy kulfi or rasmalai.

Living up to its name, which literally translates to grandeur, Aaleeshan is the crowning jewel of JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa. The all-day dining restaurant serves the best of Awadhi and Indian cuisine through masterful heirloom recipes. You can opt for the regal indoor seating or the al fresco seating that overlooks stunning sunsets. Don’t forget to try the signature dishes—Dal-e-Aaleeshan and Raan-e-Aaleeshan—by chef Riyaz Qureshi and his team of gourmet experts.

Soy x Neung Roi at Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport is a combination of authentic Thai cuisine and pan-Asian food theatre. While the former is inspired by all four regions of Thailand, the latter includes progressive Asian fare curated from China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Its traditional food is offset by its modern ambience, with an interactive kitchen that allows you to see the chefs whip up scrumptious dishes.

Be it Chinese, Thai, or Japanese delicacies that you crave, you will be spoilt for choice at MIKUSU. The chefs at this restaurant have trained under Japanese master chefs, and offer many authentic dishes such as edamame dumplings, made with a combination of edamame, miso, lemon juice, garlic, and ginger. Dig into the Japanese miso-glazed cod; get the golden-fried prawns, or Peking duck, a recipe from Imperial-era Beijing. You can also choose from a curated range of sake and Asian cocktails to go with your meal.

With a menu curated by Michelin-starred chef Andrew Wong, Baoshuan is a rooftop restaurant inspired by the largest treasure ship from the Ming dynasty, Baochuan. The restaurant offers an innovative take on traditional recipes from specific regions in China. There’s a section dedicated to shared plates featuring moo shu, Xian city lamb bun, and more. Baoshuan also boasts exquisite cocktails infused with Szechuan tinctures and Chinese five-spice mix, and aromatic teas from different regions in China.

Perbacco takes an inventive approach to contemporary Italian dining. The restaurant’s menu curated by Master Chef Adriano Baldassarre features traditional Italian dishes with a modern twist. It has everything from ravioli, tortelli, risotto, and pasta to pizza with generous helpings of mozzarella. If the elegant menu doesn’t reel you in, the wine cellar with over 100 labels straight from the vineyards of Italy will. Don’t miss out on the rich tiramisu, or, if you prefer something tangy, try delizie al limone, Italian sponge cakes filled with lemon cream and covered in a lemon and whipped cream glaze.

Named after a coastal town in the southwest region of Italy, Sorrento has an innovative approach to Neapolitan cooking. Start your meal with a selection of Italian cheeses, including parmesan that has been aged for 24 months. The sharing plates here are perfect for large groups; there is a section for rustic specialities like whole roasted chicken and lamb shanks braised for 24 hours. The artisanal pasta and Neapolitan pizza are also popular choices. You can top these off with sorbetto from the Sicilian coast or the in-house gelato.

With a large buffet and an a la carte menu with dishes from around the globe, Feast offers exactly what its name suggests—the chance to indulge in a scrumptious, filling meal, no matter the time. Its live cooking stations make for lively brunches, while the expansive wine list and wide selection of cocktails offer the perfect beverage to go with your meal. A private dining room within the restaurant comfortably seats up to 12 guests.

Inspired by the element of water, Mist is one of four restaurants at THE Park New Delhi, and has an array of Asian and Mediterranean dishes. Calming shades of cream and gold interiors are complemented by blue chairs. Its sharing platters and wide variety of cuisines make it perfect for private gatherings and family meals. Head to the confectionary counter after your meal for a sweet end to your experience.

Enticing artisanal chocolates, traditional French macaroons, and an assortment of pastries along with freshly baked bread made with flour from leading baking suppliers—Ulmer Spatz in Germany and Zeelandia in Holland—The Cake Shop’s offerings are impossible to refuse. If the mouth-watering aroma isn’t enough, the gorgeous display of cakes is sure to seal the deal. On offer are traditional German breads as well as ciabattas, focaccia, and grissini from Italy.
