Located in the upscale locality of Juhu, One8 Commune has opened up inside legendary singer-actor Kishore Kumar’s bungalow. After Delhi, Pune and Kolkata, the famous restaurant chain opened its Mumbai instalment, and Kohli, along with Maniesh Paul, took us all on a tour of the restaurant. Let’s find out more.
Virat Kohli’s new restaurant in Mumbai
One9 Commune is co-owned by Vartik Tihara, Anshul Goel, Ankit Tayal, and Virat Kohli. If you have been to this chain of restaurants, you are familiar with its bar-resto feels. But when you step inside this household-size door of Kishore Kumar’s bungalow Gouri Kunj, it will take you to a different world.
Virat Kohli met Maniesh Paul to talk about the latest addition to the One8 Commune family and take him and all of us on a tour of the restaurant in a YouTube video.
In the video, Kohli also revealed that he is a huge fan of Kishore Kumar, and treated us by humming a few lines of one his songs. He said, “His songs have really really touched me. One person asked me who would you have like to met, I would have said Kishore Da always because he was just charismatic.” Kohli also revealed how the bungalow matches with the theme and concept of his restaurant.
The duo also chatted about their food experiences. For the uninitiated, Kohli is a self-proclaimed massive foodie. Delhi boy, after all. It is his love and passion for all things food that was his inspiration behind starting One8 Commune. Kohli also recounted his worst food experience when he went to Paris with his wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika. The lack of good options for vegetarians and the language barrier were what contributed to that.
