Being on a cruise is something that’s been on my travel bucket-list for a while. I was the happiest person when I got an invite to experience the six-day Genting Dream Cruise trip from Singapore to Indonesia, with two stops at Surabaya and Bali. As a fashion enthusiast and content creator, naturally one of the first things that came to my mind was dressing up cruise style! Scroll down for a low-down on a few looks I put together, along with a little bit of my cruise experience. By Aanam Chashmawala

1. Keep it Comfortable

For me, no matter where I am, at home or traveling for work or pleasure, the idea of my
clothes being comfortable is a non-negotiable factor. Thinking of a summery wardrobe,
throwing in a crop top and a pair of denim shorts is a no brainer—something that will become a go-to when aboard a cruise ship.
2. Sunsets on the Cruise

Most cruise ships have action-packed itineraries, and one the things I learnt was that the sunsets from the middle of the ocean were unparalleled to any other experience from the world over. I prepped for some of the high-teas and evening shindigs by keeping floral maxi dresses at hand. You can always slip into a pair of heels and you are ready to go to dinner.
3. Mixing the Vibe

If you’re someone who loves pants, don’t worry—I’m with you! The only tip I’ll give you is to probably leave those full length denims behind that lean more towards too casual for a slightly more dressy vibe. I chose to go with wide-legged pants that were easy to mix up with other separates through the six-day-long voyage.
4. Something Resort-y

If you like those perfect Instagram shots that will give the ‘luxe cruise life’ vibe, I suggest
digging into those one-shoulder dresses or tops, shorter skirts or dresses, and even a little
variety in swimsuits.
5. Pairing it Up

If you’re on a honeymoon or travelling with that special someone, try and find outfits that
compliment one another (because #GramLife!)—stick to a resort, beach, or summer vibe.
6. Formal Evenings

My experience on the Genting Dream Cruise had a few formal evenings planned out as well. We had the chance to meet the captain of the ship among other things. So make sure you go through the itinerary in detail and plan for a couple of party looks, or formal date-night outfits in advance. While doing this, my one tip would be to try and keep your fabrics soft and light to ensure your baggage allowance isn’t exceeded.
7. Pack Smart

Last but definitely not the least, I’ll remind you to play with your separates as much as possible while packing for any travel experiences. This saves your effort (and weight!) which further lets you pack in some accessories too!
