Officials at Air India recently said that the airline is planning to start this new service through which the aircraft will take-off and land at the same airport. “Yes, we are exploring the possibility of starting a scenic flight service. Other details are to be decided,” a spokesperson was reported as saying to Times Now News.
What will basically be a joy ride for flyers after months of being under lockdown, the Air India flights to nowhere will take passengers over major scenic sights and landmarks and the airline will most probably use Boeing 747 jumbo for this new service. The flights will operate at a Minimum Obstacle Clearance Altitude (MOCA), which is the lowest safe level for people to fly while enjoying the sights from above.

Previously Australia’s Qantas and Singapore Airlines too announced that they were launching ‘flights to nowhere.’ While these flights include hotel stays, shopping vouchers, and car rides, it is still unclear whether ‘Air India flights to nowhere’ service will include these additional advantages as well.
While this new service doesn’t come close to the joy of landing at a new place and going off on an adventure, it is definitely the next best option that will let us see new places while maintaining all the necessary COVID-19 safety protocols.
