The new Speedbird Café menu curated by chef Tom Kerridge focuses on gourmet offerings from the British provenance. Signature pies and sandwiches such as warm steak and ale pie; ham hock and smoked cheddar sandwich; chicken, bacon and celery brioche; vegetarian brie ploughman’s sandwich; and vegan spiced cauliflower tortilla wrap feature on this menu. The new in-flight menu will not only ensure delivering passengers’ first choice of meal but will also reduce onboard waste. Passengers can book their choice of meal 12 hours prior to departure.
As per multiple media reports, chef Tom Kerridge said, “Britain is known all over the world for the quality of its meat, and so these pies will be like ambassadors for British cuisine, with proper, glazed pastry and oozing with flavour. And the sandwiches will have a lot of crunch and punch. They’ll be substantial, too.”
Apart from the Speedbird Café menu, British Airways will continue to offer complimentary refreshments (snacks and water bottles) on flights. British Airways and chef Tom Kerridge also created a video to explain the process and ideas that went behind creating this new menu.
Kerridge is the first chef in the UK to receive two Michelin stars for his culinary marvels. He is an expert on British cuisine and also owns a pub named The Hand & Flowers in the town of Marlow.
