Amidst the bleak times that we are living in, chef Gaggan Anand shares a beautiful message on Insta that will inspire you to be hopeful. #CovidBeGone #LetItPass. By Kumar Shree
I remember a quote by a Vietnamese monk, Thich Nhat Hanh, which I read during my college days. To me, it explains the idea of hope in the simplest possible way. It reads, “Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.” While the world is shadowed by a glooming layer of uncertainty, it’s ‘hope’ that will keep us going forward and seeking that silver lining. The hope of better days, and the hope that this too shall pass.
Chef Gaggan Anand puts it beautifully in his appeal which he just shared on his Instagram handle. Listen to his words before we tell you why we think it’s the most beautiful abbreviation of what we are dealing with, and what should be the way ahead.
There is an acknowledgement of the current scenario in his speech. We love how his entire speech is free of any pretensions. He addresses the elephant in the room right away and accepts that it is a tough time. After all, that’s what wise people do. While we know how this entire scenario is affecting global businesses worldwide — Anand accepts it, and he does so in an honourable way while being optimistic about it.
“Stocks are falling, hotels are closing, you can’t fly, you can’t go anywhere, you are quarantined, but those who can, please try saving their restaurants. We all are crying, we all are dying. I hope none of the restaurants that I follow die in this turmoil,” he says.
His words, “The economy is dying, F&B drying,” reflects the harsh reality. He furthermore adds, “Let’s build a better tomorrow. Today, we can’t do much [but] it’s not the end of the world, it’s just that we are in a bad situation.”
Those words beautifully sum up the message of hope that he tries to deliver. Let’s be hopeful, let’s support each other, and let’s grow out of it together.
