It is the time for cherry blossom in Wuhan. Cherry blossom, as we know, is one of the most popular tourist attractions of China. This year, however, the situation is entirely different because of the Coronavirus crisis that has been lingering over the world. Let alone travellers, even locals are not getting a chance to witness this stunning natural phenomenon because of the precautionary lockdown.

Having said that, a few local authorities and media houses have come together to figure out an armchair-escape route. An official of the Wuhan University live-streamed the bloom on Weibo, a Twitter-like social media platform popular in China. His video has more than four million views. Apart from him, many other media outlets like People’s Daily and Xinhua News have also set up cameras that broadcast the trees from 10 am to 4 pm every day. These broadcasts will go on until March 25.
Thanks to them, now it is possible for not just the locals, but people around the world to witness the cherry blossoms in Wuhan, and that too from home.
