Tennessee-based Youtubers, Kara and Nate had sold their home and embarked on a journey around the world. This was four years ago. Fast forward to 100 countries, seven continents and one million subscribers later – the influencer couple is now stuck up in a hotel in Singapore.
After recently completing an awe-inspiring trip to Antarctica and paying a visit to their family in the US, the couple were in the Philippines for the last two weeks. With an impending lockdown and the COVID-19 virus not slowing down, the couple barely made it out of the country.

Although the couple had the option of travelling back home to Kara’s parents’ house, they did not want to put their family at risk. So instead, they landed in Singapore and checked themselves into one of the airport hotels. “It was quickly becoming apparent that the only way to stop the spread of the virus was for the world stay put for a while,” Nate said. “The problem was we haven’t had a home,” added Nate.
The couple is currently practising self-isolation and staying indoors, although Singapore isn’t under lockdown. A breakfasting-bed birthday for Nate and a newfound routine that includes regular exercise, working on video edits and taking care of finance, and catching up on emails is what a regular day looks like for the couple now.

“For the time being, this all feels relatively normal… until we start consuming news and social media,” Nate said. Kudos to Kara and Nate for focusing on the positives and we bet they are already planning their trip, for when coronavirus is in the rearview.
