Have you, like us, landed at the wrong terminal and missed your flight? Maybe, you didn’t read the ticket right or your UBER driver dropped you off at the wrong location. No matter what the reason is, at the end it is basically just money down the drain. What if we told you there is soon going to be way to avoid this scenario altogether at Delhi, thanks to ‘Air Trains?’ By Amitha Ameen

The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport or Delhi Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. Seeing more than 6 crore passengers a year, the airport can get very overwhelming for those who are new to the city or are not frequent travellers.

To handle the increasing number of yearly passengers and to make things more streamlined, airport development authorities have come with a solution for this. The airport is likely get an ‘air train’ by 2022 according to multiple news websites. “By the time the current phase of expansion is over by 2022, Delhi airport will become quite big with annual passenger handling capacity reaching 10 crore. Therefore, an air train is being considered right now to be built by 2022,” said a source privy to the development, an article published on theweek.in mentioned.

Currently, passengers travel between terminals with the help of shuttle bus service. Newyork’s JFK and Singapore’s Changi airport provide air train services to passengers to make commuting easier.

Other media reported that authorities are weighing their options and looking a cost-effective way to move passengers between terminals and other areas like cargo and the nearby Aerocity. But this is not the first time that talk of ‘air trains’ have emerged. Earlier in 2016, plans to implement these ‘air trains’ in Delhi were in talks. However, the project later got shelved over funding issues.

So what do you think? Will ‘air trains’ make it easier for passengers? Let us know.
