The crisis of air pollution has struck the National Capital Region again, with the air quality of regions surrounding the capital reaching severe+ category. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi has constantly been worsening, leading to a continuous pollution-filled haze covering the city. Moreover, as a result of dipping temperatures and stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana, Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal even called the city a ‘gas chamber’.

Delhiites are waging this pollution battle with the help of the newest concept in the country, an oxygen bar. It does exactly what the name suggests! Oxy Pure, the first oxygen bar in the country, offers pure oxygen to its customers for fifteen minutes. One can even choose to order oxygen in one of the seven different aromas — peppermint, spearmint, orange, cinnamon, lemongrass, eucalyptus and lavender. The customer is given a tube, known as a cannula, through which flavoured oxygen is provided. Each 15 minute session claims to displace harmless radicals and neutralize anaerobic infectious bacteria as well as the toxins in the environment. The sessions are reported to provide a variety of health benefits to the customers such as blood detoxification, higher concentration, alertness, cure for hangovers to name a few. While not claiming to cure any diseases, each session aims at providing rejuvenation for the customers.

Launched by 26 years’ old Aryavir Kumar in South Delhi’s upscale Select Citywalk Mall in May, this oxygen bar is the first of its kind in the country. It comes at an apt time for residents who are desperate for clean air to breath amid the saddening situation of air pollution here. Another branch of Oxy Pure is scheduled to be launched at the Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3 in another two weeks.

A 15-minute session starts at INR 299, going up to INR 499. Consider it a spa session for your lungs!
