Speaking to Hindustan Times, MA Ganapathy, special director general, CISF is reported as saying that the introduction of this mechanism will increase efficiency by over 60 to 70 per cent, and also increase the passenger screening per hour to 300-350, as opposed to the 180-200, currently. Reportedly, he also adds that these trays will have radio-frequency identification tags and will be under constant surveillance of CCTV cameras.
Earlier, Business Today reported that the airport would also be installing sensor-based technology in washrooms and queues. This sensor would reportedly help alert the staff if the number of passengers within the areas exceeds a certain limit, in turn ensuring physical distancing. UV tunnels, automatic hand sanitisers, and designated entry gates are some of the other measures reportedly undertaken.
