As per a report by The Times of India, the Delhi airport operator Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) are reportedly working in collaboration to install 10 new ATRS at Terminal 3 of the capital city’s international airport to speed up security checks.

ATRS system is a roller-based mechanism that returns luggage trays to the starting point, in turn cutting down the time of doing so manually and facilitating a contactless screening of the luggage. Moreover, in doing so, it will also free the CISF force to undertake frisking of passengers more carefully.

Speaking to Hindustan TimesMA Ganapathy, special director general, CISF is reported as saying that the introduction of this mechanism will increase efficiency by over 60 to 70 per cent, and also increase the passenger screening per hour to 300-350, as opposed to the 180-200, currently. Reportedly, he also adds that these trays will have radio-frequency identification tags and will be under constant surveillance of CCTV cameras.

Earlier, Business Today reported that the airport would also be installing sensor-based technology in washrooms and queues. This sensor would reportedly help alert the staff if the number of passengers within the areas exceeds a certain limit, in turn ensuring physical distancing. UV tunnels, automatic hand sanitisers, and designated entry gates are some of the other measures reportedly undertaken.
