To provide an easier and quicker visa procedure to its rapidly increasing numbers of inbound travellers from across the world, Azerbaijan has introduced a three-step e-visa programme. By Sushmita Srivastav
Wish to travel to breathtaking Azerbaijan but tired of long hauling procedure for attaining visitor’s visa? Fret no more, for the South Caucasus country has launched several innovative reforms such as the new simplified electronic visa procedure. The launch of ASAN visa system by the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan is now allowing foreign guests to get their hands on the e-visa by following three simple steps (Application, Payment and Download) from the convenience of their home or on their mobile device.
The official e-visa portal of the Republic of Azerbaijan can be used to apply for the e-visa. As for now, people from 95 countries are eligible for the application; the list of the countries is up on the website, which provides information in nine different languages. Thanks to this, it will now take only two minutes for the process with the support of ASAN visa staff and self-service terminals at Baku, Ganja, Gabala and Lankaran International Airports. Emergency visas can be issued within three hours at an additional cost.
There is also a relief for the citizens of 15 countries, who can receive their visa on arrival. The list includes Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Iran, Israel, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, China, Turkey, South Korea and Indonesia, as well as expatriates possessing a valid residency permit from the UAE.
