The largest airline in the UAE, Emirates, said that it will cover flyers’ COVID-19 medical expenses up to €1.50 lakh (INR 1.3 crores) and their quarantine costs of €100 (INR 8,691) per day for 14 days, should the need arise and a passenger test positive with COVID-19 during their travel.
“This cover is immediately effective for customers flying on Emirates until October 31, 2020 (first flight to be completed on or before October 31, 2020). It is valid for 31 days from the moment they fly the first sector of their journey,” the airline said in a statement.

This move will now enable worried passengers to travel with confidence regardless of class of travel or destination. Any customer who has tested positive during their travel has to simply contact a dedicated hotline number to avail assistance and medical cover.
According to a statement on the brand’s Twitter handle, “Emirates becomes the world’s first airline to provide free, global cover to customers from COVID-19 medical expenses. Launched under His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates’ directive, this industry-leading initiative aims to boost travel confidence.”
Customers are not required to fill or register on any forms before their travel; passengers can now travel without worries, all thanks to Emirates’ effective steps to ensure maximum safety for its passengers.
