Many industries have begun to open their doors for the public in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic. But, it seems like it may take a little longer for international air travel as many airline companies including Etihad Airways have plans to reopen only in July. Ever since many countries seem to have successfully curbed the spread of COVID-19, talks of travel mediums re-opening have been doing the rounds. One such medium whose re-opening status people have been anticipating has been air travel.
While many cities have re-opened domestic travel flights for passengers on select routes, international air travel seems like it may take a tad bit longer.

Tony Douglas, CEO of Etihad Airways recently mentioned that they hope to re-open passenger flights in mid-July. Earlier, the Abu Dhabi carrier was scheduled to re-open on May 16, but after lockdown extensions and a second wave of the virus, the airline had to reschedule.
Meanwhile, the airline has been able to operate 25 of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners for cargo and also to bring back stranded citizens to the UAE. While this repatriation list has been steadily growing, some of the already existing routes include Paris, Milan, and Geneva.

As for when the regularly scheduled passenger flights will resume, Douglas said that there are a lot of factors involved but with the right steps and approvals they should be able to do so by July 16.
