Thanks to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, international and domestic travellers have been scrambling to find solutions for cancellations and rescheduling of their flights. Indian airline GoAir has come up with a helpful solution to ease the worries of passengers. By Amitha Ameen

As we all pray and hope for #CoronaBeGone, Wadia group-owned private carrier GoAir, which was earlier offering free cancellation charges, announced that passengers can redeem the ticket price on any booking done in the next one year.
“If a customer cannot or chooses not to travel, they can simply not show up for the flight and GoAir will protect the PNR for a period of one year,” the airlines stated in an official press release.
This will cancel the worry of passengers and save them from wondering whether they have to cancel or reschedule their pre-booked flight tickets. The offer extends to all new bookings as well, which will be made until April 15.
“The passenger can contact GoAir at any time over the next one year to redeem this ticket on any GoAir flight on any date between April 15, 2020 and April 15, 2021 with no charges being levied (fare difference may be applicable),” the release added.

Airlines everywhere have seen a steep rise in calls across their customer care centers from passengers, trying to reschedule or cancel their bookings. “A 500-700 percent increase in call volumes has made it difficult for customer care representatives to give timely attention to worried customers,” said a representative from GoAir.
All other domestic airlines, including government-owned Air India, has also announced a waiver on rescheduling charges. A move initiated by India’s Civil Aviation Ministry following WHO’s classification of the virus as a pandemic.

“In view of the Coronavirus situation and travel advisory issued, one free change permitted for pax to postpone any international or domestic bookings on AI network to all existing bookings with travel date till 30th April 20,” the national carrier said in the tweet stating the condition that the tickets must be re-issued on or before May 31.
