Travelling during COVID-19 is stressful enough and we don’t need the added agony of scouring through multiple websites to gather information on the current updates, and eventually end up all confused with half-baked information. Across the world, travel restrictions are being slowly lifted, tweaked, and even being made stringent, and it can be very taxing to go through each of the individual websites to gather information and stay updated with the daily changes made by each country’s governments. And, it is for this purpose that Google has introduced new features to ‘Search’ that would enable users to travel better during these times.
Through these new features, users will be able to check on the status of travel in a specific destination, know the percentage of hotels that are open, and be informed about the availability of flights operating in that particular city or country. It will also help them stay updated with the latest regulations and guidelines.
To avail of this helpful service, users need to simply go on google.com/travel and they will find all the necessary details for the trip that they are planning to undertake. Further, the search engine giant will also provide links to travel advisories and inform you of the local COVID-19 situation in a particular city as well. Google will also add specific details like hotels offering free cancellation options and patrons can just use the available filters to tailor the search according to their needs.
Google’s new travel-related feature is positioning itself to be a one-stop solution for all pandemic and post-pandemic travelling. Google’s maps have already activated a feature, wherein, local alerts from local transit companies will help users stay updated with COVID-19 checkpoints and restrictions.
