In a surprising turn of events, acclaimed British chef Gordon Ramsay declared to the world that he would now be embracing a vegan diet, ditching his succulent meat dishes for the time being. The minute-long announcement on his Instagram profile reveals that the restaurateur is making this move after a three-decade long career and “thousands of hours in the kitchen.”
Right then, the famed reality television personality is seen grilling a half-cut aubergine straight on the burner—plunging straight onto this newly embraced veganism. His vegan steak dinner also includes lightly toasted spices; a red wine reduction for ensuring meat-like juiciness; and a vegan butter emulsion for creaminess. With all the elements prepared, Ramsay assembles the charred aubergine in his signature style. To complete the presentation, the Scotland-born chef seasons, sauces, and garnishes the ‘meat’.

Cut to a quick rewind linking back to the first shots of the video, and Ramsay’s true motivations are revealed: “I’m turning vegan…for lunch.”
Fans were quick to respond to the video, most of whom are glad this change was temporary. Many have pointed out that Ramsay is one of the inspirations for pan-cooked steak dinners and the video had them nervous throughout; while others have noted that this could have been a welcoming change, had he made the plunge for a sustained period. Irrespective, Ramsay sure got a lot of eyeballs!
