Hawaii is doing its bit to fight the Coronavirus pandemic with a host of safety guidelines in place. Shortly after updating its statewide order of 14-day mandatory quarantine for all passengers, it has yet again updated the rules. Read on to know the latest quarantine regulations. By Kumar Shree
The updated rules say that visitors with negative Coronavirus test results can escape the 14-day mandatory quarantine. The updated rule will come into effect from August 1 and visitors who present a negative test report for Coronavirus can escape Hawaii’s mandatory 14-day quarantine altogether.

As reported by Hawaii Tourism Authority, during a press conference, Governor David Ige said, “We are working on an alternative to the 14-day mandatory quarantine that would allow a safe and healthy way for travellers to return to the islands… Beginning August 1, we will implement a pre-travel testing programme for travellers to Hawaii as an alternative to the 14-day mandatory quarantine. Beginning August 1, travellers who have a valid negative COVID-19 test before arriving will not be subject to the 14-day mandatory quarantine. The quarantine will remain in place for those who choose to not get a pre-travel test. The health of our community continues to be our primary focus and priority. This multi-layered screening process allows travellers to return and allows us to continue to protect the health and safety of our community.”

The new testing programme is under development as of now. Once it comes into effect, visitors will need to bear the testing cost, and also complete Hawaii’s travel and health form.
While the new rule is aimed to boost tourism, the second layer of safety will also be set in motion. The passengers will need to undergo a temperature check at airports across the state and anyone showing above 100.4-Degrees C on the scale will need to take another test.
Hawaii has 816 COVID-19 positive cases at the time of writing this article (June 29, 2020).
