In an attempt to help its employees, overcome the financial impact they have been suffering due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the prestigious Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has announced the Hyatt Care Fund. 

“The Hyatt Care Fund is launching with initial contributions from the Hyatt Hotels Foundation, salary reductions of our Senior Leadership Team and Chairman of the Board and Board of Directors, donations from Pritzker family foundations and donations from some Hyatt hotel owners,” the hotel chain mentioned on its website, further adding that the fund will help cover rent and utility payments, child care assistance, groceries and medical assistance, for those with most pressing financial needs.

The fund’s priority will be for those employees who are currently working for zero hours and don’t have any government assistance. Anyone can contribute to the said fund at hyatt.com/hyattcarefundEmployees in any hotel that is owned, managed and franchised by Hyatt Hotels, and also those working in Hyatt corporate offices can apply for the fund at hyattconnect.com. 

The hotel also released a video on its social media handles about the Hyatt Care Fund, tweeting, “In a dedicated effort to help our colleagues who have been the most financially impacted by COVID-19, we recently came together as one Hyatt family to establish the Hyatt Care Fund.  

The hotel chain, in order to safeguard the health of its employees and guests, had last month taken some harsh measuressuch as temporarily suspending operations at some of its properties, and reduction in pay and work at all levels across the globe, from April 1 to May 31.

Moreover, as a relief to its customers, it earlier also allowed change and cancellation in bookings done for dates between April 2 and June 30, with no cancellation fee, up to 24 hours before the scheduled arrival. Further, ensuring good food to its customers even during quarantine, the hotel chain recently started food delivery at many of its properties in India, such as, Hyatt Regency Delhi, Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Park Hyatt Hyderabad and Hyatt Regency Kolkata.
