Have you ever wanted to peek into the world of Disney’s iconic movie, Frozen? We have some good news for you. You can now virtually visit the fairytale-worthy ice hotel in Quebec, Canada, all for free! By Upasana Singh
Hotel de Glace near Quebec City, Canada is the only ice hotel in North America. Made entirely out of snow and ice, this architectural wonder adopts a different theme every year. The idea is to offer something novel to the guests and entice them to come back for more. This year’s theme, ’20 Years of Enchantment’, marks the 20th anniversary of the ice hotel. While the hotel’s 2020 season is over, a 3D virtual tour is available to view on the hotel’s website.

Walking from room to room, the virtual tour will enable you to see all the best spots including the throne chair, an ice slide, bar, and the fancy suites. Forty-thousand tonnes of snow and 500 tonnes of ice has been used by artists to create the hotel’s intricately carved hall, chapel and 42 bedrooms. Sculpted snow animals and furniture carved out of frozen water adorn the hotel. The rooms are illuminated by dazzling colours that reflect on the crystal-like walls.
Backed by Quebec’s tourism department, the hotel has been described as a “tourist hotspot”. With its old school chapel design, it has also been designated as one of the 10 dream wedding locations.
The temporary building can only be seen in real life for a short period of time before it melts away. But, to our delight, you can now visit this man-made marvel whenever you want. You can zoom in close on the delicate details of every corner of the hotel without being worried about tourists blocking your view.
