The Government has recently announced latest Indian visa relaxations for international air travel, and here’s what we know about it so far. By Amitha Ameen

“The government has decided to make a graded relaxation in visa and travel restrictions for more categories of foreign nationals and Indian nationals who wish to enter or leave India,” a statement from the Home Ministry read, also adding, “Under this graded relaxation, Government of India has also decided to restore with immediate effect all existing visas (except electronic visa, Tourist Visa and Medical Visa).”
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that permission will be granted to all foreign nationals including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders to visit the country for any reason. All visas barring, tourist, medical and electronic have also been restored with immediate effect, as per the new Indian visa relaxations.

If the validity of any of the visas has expired, then new visas can be obtained for the same from concerned authorities. Foreign nationals who wish to visit India for medical treatments can apply for a new medical visa. Through the new Indian visa relaxations, foreigners will be able to enter and leave India for all purposes including medical, business, employment, studies, and research purposes.
India currently has an air bubble agreement with 18 countries under which carriers of India and the respective nations can operate international flights. Scheduled domestic passenger flights were restored in India on May 25, 2020, after being suspended since March 2020 owing to the Coronavirus outbreak.
