International airlines are slowly resuming flight operations across select destinations starting May-June. Read our full story for further details. By Tanvi Jain

As the world slowly shows signs of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, the aviation – one of the worst-hit industries due to the pandemic – gears up to get back up in the air.
Many airlines across the globe have decided to resume operations both domestically as well as internationally. Some such airlines include the American Airlines which recently released an updated list of European and Latin American schedules. As per reports, the British Airways also plans to start long-haul operations in June. Similarly, Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon are likely to increase their flying capacity by June end too.

“Cathay Pacific announced on end-April that they will be extending its interim operations until May. They have now extended the interim schedule until June 20. Increased operations will commence from June 21, 2020,” Cathay Pacific posted on its Instagram handle.
KLM has also resumed few flights this month. Emirates has reportedly announced that it will start passenger flights to nine destinations starting May 21, for those who meet its eligibility and entry criteria, and precautionary measures will be taken throughout the journey.

“Emirates will operate scheduled flights to Chicago, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Madrid, Melbourne, Milan, Paris, Sydney and Toronto from May 21, 2020. We are working closely with authorities to resume flights to more destinations,” Emirates Airline said in a tweet.
Others that plan to soon release their flying schedule for June include, Etihad, Delta, Korean Air, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, etc. Moreover, Lufthansa has reportedly confirmed of expanding its services from June across 106 destinations, and Qatar has announced to increase its operations to at least 80 destinations by June end.

“We are thrilled to announce that we will be resuming our flights to Brisbane from May 20, helping take more #Aussies home. Our flights to Brisbane will operate thrice a week on an A350-1000, offering 46 seats in Business Class and 281 seats in Economy Class,” added Qatar Airways, further mentioning its plans to offer 21 passenger flights a week to Australia to the main gateways of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth as well.

Moreover, back home, national carrier Air India also announced opening of bookings from India to selected international destinations. “Reservation for travel from India to select destinations in the USA, UK, Australia & to Frankfurt, Paris Singapore & Canada will commence from 17:00 hrs on May 14, 2020,” the airline tweeted.
Furthermore, reports also say that that Virgin Atlantic has recently announced its Summer 2021 programme, in which it plans to operate flights from Heathrow, Manchester, Glasgow and Belfast.
