The world-renowned Singapore Changi Airport has been rightly bagging the title of the Best International Airport at Travel+Leisure India & South Asia’s India’s Best Awards for the last eight years. Yet, the swanky Singaporean air-travel hub never seizes to innovate and surprise the world. Its latest extension, Jewel, was launched in April this year to wide-eyed approval of travellers from around the globe.

Jewel Changi Airport, a smooth blend of natural and urban elements, has an exciting array of experiences to offer, including remarkable installations, play zones, diners, and retail outlets. Its centrepiece, however, is the 40-metre-high Rain Vortex, the tallest indoor waterfall in the world. Pro tip: catch a glimpse of a rainbow at its base under the afternoon sun, best viewed from Level 4’s Lobby H. Alternatively, stroll down the East Trail through the lush greenery of the Forest Valley to reach the Viewing Deck on Level 2.

If you have some leisure time on your stopover or if you are staying in Singapore for a few days, set aside some hours to discover the Canopy Park on Level 5. The 14,000-square-metre recreational wonderland features plenty of attractions for the young and young-at-heart: floral displays and bushes shaped like animals at the Topiary Walk; Singapore’s first large-scale interactive sculpture, Discovery Slides, which can be used as a viewing deck or a playground or simply be seen as a work of art; an enjoyable challenge in the Hedge Maze; and the thrilling glass-bottom Canopy Bridge, which offers a close-up view of the Rain Vortex. You can also choose to walk or bounce around on the Sky Nets suspended overhead.

In addition to these varied experiences, Jewel Changi Airport houses a 130-room hotel and over 280 retail and F&B outlets, including Southeast Asia’s first Shake Shack and Asia’s first Pokémon Center outside Japan.
