One of the most prominent meteor showers of the year, the Geminid Meteor Shower will reach its peak on the night of December 13 and 14. This meteor shower has been a favourite among skywatchers as it puts on display the most spectacular starry night. Even though the shower will peak on December 13 and 14, experts suggest you keep a look out for stunning visuals from the night of December 11 itself as a decent amount of splattering is likely to be exhibited.
This is a natural event wherein several meteors originate from one point and move towards the other. During their journey, when they enter the atmosphere of our planet, they leave behind a trail of cosmic debris, which illuminates the night sky.

Those of you who wish to witness the King of Meteor Shower from India will be in luck. The Geminid Meteor Shower will be best visible from locations lying north of the equator. Since city lights might obstruct your experience, heading to a secluded spot away from the light pollution can result in capturing the best visuals.
Researchers suggest 02:00 am as the best time to witness the shower. Make sure to dedicate at least an hour when you set out to observe the shower. Carry some quickbites, hot beverage, warm clothing (it’s December!), and you will have your very own night picnic under a canopy of dazzling stars.
