The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has launched a comprehensive programme called sURAKSHA, designed in partnership with Bureau Veritas — a company specialised in testing, inspection and certification — to elevate its health, safety and hygiene protocols with stringent measures for a safe environment.  

Some of the safety measures that the hotel chain plans to adapt and enhance according to the situation include use of protective gear and mask, gloves and PPE kits for all its associates, regular temperature checks of all the associates and partners upon entering the hotel premises, alarms to remind the associates to sanitise themselves, use of hospital-grade, EPA approved chemicals that target a broad spectrum of viruses and bacteria, and frequent cleaning, and sanitisation of all surfaces across public areas at regular intervals

Moreover, the measures also include rigorous deep cleaning and application of disinfectants in guest rooms, fitness centres and restaurantscleaning of all high-touch points like door handles, elevator buttons, countertops, tabletops and railings with disinfectant at regular intervals, use of hotel cars for transferring guests, sanitisation and inspection of all cars by the concierge team before and after every transfer, deployment of a task force under the guidance of its partners and a dedicated hygiene manager, to ensure that all protocols are strictly followed across all its properties.

In order to maintain social distancing, the hotel plans to redo its restaurant seating arrangement and introduce an e-menu that can be viewed by guests on their respective phones. Moreover, use of hand sanitisers in restaurants, introduction of natural immunity-boosting beverages, mandatory use of PPE kits for the kitchen team, washing and sanitisation of vegetables, fruits and groceries, preparation of food in small quantities to ensure fresh food is served to the guests, washing of all dishes at 80-degrees Celsius, and hygiene training for all the teams, are some of the additional measures the hotel chain will be following for the safety of guests in the future.

Furthermore, use of advanced technology is also on the list, which would mean contactless check-in and check out the facilitypayment via phone, use of high bar pressure dry steam cleaners, electrostatic sprayers, a hospital-grade disinfectant, replacing newspapers with digital news and e-papersand adherence to international certifications and standards while considering the guidance and information shared by experts from the group’s partner team.
