Previously, India had established ‘travel bubbles’ as part of its Vande Bharat Mission with a couple of countries including the US, UK, France and Germany, through which Indian nationals can travel to these countries with any type of visa. And as per the terms of the bilateral bubbles, Germany’s Lufthansa airline will restart its passenger flight services to India on select routes.
India is one of the airline’s most important international markets and service to the same will be reinstated on August 13. Lufthansa will recommence flight operations to Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru with immediate effect.

Lufthansa has already been operating outbound flights from India for several months, departing from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru to its Frankfurt and Munich hubs, read a statement released by the airlines (as reported on india.com). Now, along with these outbound evacuations and chartered flights, those wishing to return to India as well as business travellers can rejoice too.
In late July, Lufthansa had announced that PCR Coronavirus facilities will be available to Indian customers at Munich and Frankfurt airports.
India had suspended scheduled international passenger flights since March 2020 owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. And after a gap of two months, in May, the country restarted its domestic flight operations. And now, with the recommencing of international flights on the agenda as well, it looks like the world is gradually opening up again.
