Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh also tweeted about the development, saying, “@UPGovt The cabinet approved the proposal to rename the airport at Ayodhya in the name of Maryada Purushottam Bhagwan #Riram ji. Your state government is committed to making Ayodhya, the city of #Raram_Lala, a leading place in the religious places of the world.”
Ever since the construction of the Ram Temple started, the government has been pushing for the construction of the Ayodhya airport as well. The Ayodhya airport will handle all the surge in domestic and international tourists heading to the city to pay a visit to the temple and other places.
“The government believes that there will be huge tourist traffic – both domestic and international – in Ayodhya when the construction of the grand Ram temple is completed. The airport will further facilitate this,” an official spokesperson for the CM of the state had said earlier in September, as per a report by The Logical India.

The UP government has set the timeline of December 2021 for the completion of the airport. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is keeping a close eye on the same, along with other developmental aspects of the holy city.
The Government is also working on the construction of Ayodhya ‘upnagar’, an ambitious project of developing a new town adjacent to the current city of Ayodhya. Reportedly, this new town will be based upon the heritage and aesthetic of Lord Rama’s ancient city.
