Travelling on the national capital’s lifeline, the Delhi Metro, just got even more delightful. Launched on Monday, December 28, National Common Mobility Card—a new and automated fare collection system, is set to make daily commute a hassle-free experience, especially for daily travellers. With this new card, commuters can now travel in the Delhi Metro through their mobile phones. According to a report by NDTV, commuters availing the metro will be able to generate QR codes on their mobile phones to enter and exit via automatic fare collection (AFC) gates which will deduct the applicable fare. The same card, also known as the One Nation One Card, can even pay for bus services.

However, paying for metro and bus rides is just one of the many benefits of this card. Apart from these, one can also use the same card to pay for several other services, such as parking charges, toll taxes, and retail shopping. That’s not all! One can also use the National Common Mobility Card to withdraw money. The fact that you can use this card all across the country is also one of its many highlights. Now that’s a truly multifunctional card, isn’t it!

Notably, countries such as South Korea’s Seoul Metro System are already using a similar card system.
