As part of the ongoing Unlock 5.0, India will, from today, see new domestic flights hit the skies once again during the ongoing pandemic. 

While, Air India will reportedly operate flights between Mumbai and Mangaluru, four days a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays — AI 679 Mumbai to Mangaluru: 10:15 am to 12:00 pm, AI 680 Mangaluru to Mumbai: 12:40 pm to 2:20 pm — its subsidiary Alliance Air, will operate one from Bengaluru to Madurai from 6:30 am to 7:50 am, Madurai to Coimbatore from 8:20 am to 9:10 am, and then a return flight from Coimbatore to Bengaluru, from 9:35 am to 10:35 am — all on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. 

Before the outbreak of the pandemic, Madurai was reportedly connected via 24 domestic flights. While till last month, they were reduced to just nine, the destination has now increased it to 13, connecting Chennai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.   

The third airline that has decided to resume operations from today is SpiceJetwhich will start a new flight from Delhi to Kangra, scheduled a7:25 am to 9:00 am, and back from Kangra at 9:20 am.

Moreover, reports also suggest that Madurai is all set to get a direct flight from Kolkata, starting October 25, and IndiGo has already started accepting bookings for this one. The touchdown will reportedly be in Bengaluru and the flight will be operated six days a week. 

The flight will depart from Kolkata at 7.20 am and will reach Madurai airport at 12 pm. There will be a layover of 40 minutes at Bengaluru airport in between. While returning, the flight will depart Madurai airport at 12.30 pm and will reach Kolkata at 4.55 pm. The airbus 320 aircraft will be operated on all days except for Tuesday,” Time of India mentioned in a report.
