The grand demeanour of Morocco’s Marrakech isn’t unknown. Home to palaces, mosques, and exquisite gardens, this city is often one of the top spots in any traveller’s bucket list. With the opening of The Oberoi, Marrakech, there’s yet another reason to visit the Red City. By Bayar Jain
Imagine walking into a lavish green space perfumed by the natural sweet fragrances of citrus orchards. At 28-acre land of olive groves juxtaposed against the pristine white snow-capped Atlas Mountains will decorate the new Oberoi, Marrakech.
Announcing the opening of the resort, Mr P.R.S. Oberoi, Executive Chairman, The Oberoi Group, said, “We are delighted to announce the opening of The Oberoi, Marrakech. We look forward to extending The Oberoi Group’s presence in one of the world’s most exotic destinations.” Adding to this, Mr Fabien Gastinel, General Manager of the resort said, “Every facility at The Oberoi, Marrakech is being planned to create a flawless experience for our guests. From the luxurious rooms to the dining options; all aspects of the resort will offer our guests unparalleled luxury with exceptional service which is warm, personalised and heartfelt.”
Set to open on December 1, 2019, this new resort will be 25 minutes from the Djema el-Fna square and the ancient walled city. It’s only obvious, then, that a touch of this magnificent history will reflect upon the resort’s architecture as well.
Inspired by Moroccan architecture, The Oberoi Marrakech could easily be considered an ode to the history of the city. While the courtyard of the main building incorporates designs of the 14th Century Medersa Ben Youssef – an iconic monument of the city, the picturesque mountain views add to the charm of the resort. A range of 84 luxurious rooms, suites, and villas allows guests to soak in this beauty without compromising on privacy. For an added layer of lux, 76 of these rooms even house private pools and private gardens. A dose of old-world charm with a splattering of luxury – the ideal concoction!
This same opulence even extends to their three restaurants. Featuring diverse International and Moroccan culinary experiences, any discerning guest is sure to be spoilt for choice. The bar and terrace here overlook the extensive gardens and panoramic mountains, making it an ideal space for a romantic meal. However, if your idea of romance is more sensual, then the Oberoi Spa is your calling.
An oasis of peace and a haven of tranquillity, the Oberoi Spa is rejuvenation personified. The surrounding orchards amid a natural water body set the tone for the serene aura that radiates through the walls of the spa. An indoor pool here only elevates this feeling further. While here, guests can indulge in authentic Moroccan and Ayurvedic treatments, or even experience a Hammam in their private therapy suites.
That’s not all though! The Oberoi, Marrakech has a 300 square metre function room and smaller meeting rooms for social and corporate events. For families travelling with children, a designated activity centre is also available. However, it is the Oberoi Experiences that stands out. The resort offers authentic Oberoi Experiences which enable guests to explore the best of the destination’s vibrant culture and historic monuments.
If you wish to experience unparalleled luxury, exquisite designs and legendary service, then Oberoi, Marrakech is the place to be!
