As India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi celebrates his 70th birthday on September 17, 2020, Surat City in Gujarat will see 70,000 new saplings. Now that’s what we call an environment-friendly and green birthday. By Kumar Shree
People usually make great efforts to make their birthdays grand and unique, but rarely does anybody come up with an idea of planting 70,000 saplings on their big day. But when it’s the birthday of India‘s Prime Minister, his fans and followers leave no stone unturned.

This year, the Surat civic body along with several other associations and business groups have taken the onus upon themselves to make PM Modi’s birthday a celebration to remember for all the right reasons. The plan is to plant 70,000 saplings around the city. This eco-conscious initiative is already underway for the last 15 days and will conclude on PM Modi’s birthday.
As reported by ANI, Nirav Shah, Deputy Mayor, Surat City, said “The Prime Minister always urges everyone to celebrate his birthday by doing an activity, which will be beneficial to the people. So this time we have come up with the idea to plant 70,000 saplings across the city which will increase the oxygen and will be beneficial for the future generation.”

The best part about this initiative is that it will continue to prevail even after PM Modi’s birthday and the residents will continue to plant more saplings even after achieving the target of 70,000.
Well, that is an idea most of us would like to use for our birthday celebrations as well. After all, each sapling will grow along with us to replenish the earth‘s green cover and leave it better than before.
