Little compares to the allure of Rajasthan’s incredible heritage and culture. Mix it with traditional Rajput-style hospitality seeped in comfortable modernity, and you get a beautiful juxtaposition in the form of RAAS Hotels. With sustainability interwoven in all three properties—RAAS Jodhpur, RAAS Devigarh and RAAS Chhatrasagar—each guarantee a memorable stay. Here’s why you should consider these properties for your next rebound road trip. By Bayar Jain

RAAS Jodhpur

RAAS Hotels
RAAS Jodhpur radiates vintage opulence.

A melange of old-world charm and modern-day comforts, the pet-friendly RAAS Jodhpur radiates vintage opulence. The 18th-century structure, which was once a part of a Rajput nobleman’s haveli, has now been transformed to house public areas; 40 rooms and suites; three restaurants, namely the all-day Baradari, al-fresco style Darikhana, and the three-storied Stepwell Café; and a spa offering Ayurvedic and Tibetan massage therapies. Use of local sandstone and hand-cut stone lattices permeate throughout the property. Views of the towering Mehrangarh Fort shadowing the property peek from behind the windows of every room, while the Stepwell Suite also offers a view of a historic waterbody that RAAS has restored and continues to maintain for the city.

RAAS Devigarh

RAAS Hotels
RAAS Devigarh is a refurbished 18th-century palace-fortress.

Originally built by generals of King Maharana Pratap, this 18th-century palace-fortress boasts of a maze of rooms across various levels. The muted tones of the once-abandoned palace were restored over a 15-year period, thanks to 750 artisans. Now, the arched-structure has transformed into a wellness haven housing 39 suites, of which seven Palace Suites come studded with semi-precious stones. Regality, however, increases manifolds at the Devigarh Suite, which comes with jaw-dropping views of the Aravali mountains and a private black granite pool to soak in the view from. Accentuating this comfort further is the Kothar Bar here, which offers herbal cocktails; and the restaurant is known for its multitudinous organic offerings. Although RAAS Devigarh houses a singular restaurant, the environs make up for this small number as each of the food offerings can be enjoyed in any part of the hotel. Think the mirrored Sheesh Mahal, open-air poolside deck, or even the Silver Lounge. The in-house spa heightens the experience with their mix of traditional healing mediums such as Ayurveda and Tibetan massage therapies.

Understanding that 2020 has been full of challenges, RAAS Devigarh has partnered with Wellness Lifestyle—a team of seasoned wellness professionals—to introduce wellness packages, in turn helping their guests let go of stress, boost immunity and strike a work-life balance. Think, Ayurveda, yoga, sowa rigpa, traditional Chinese medicine, naturopathy, homoeopathy, and various other complementary and alternative practices such as Bach flower remedies, anma, shiatsu, rolfing, music healing and more.

RAAS Chhatrasagar

RAAS Hotels
RAAS Chhatrasagar has 16 soundproof tent-style accommodations.

Located amid 1,500 acres of wilderness on the banks of a reservoir in Nimaj, RAAS Chhatrasagar brings its guests a step closer to nature. With sandstone and teak wood finished tents, the 16 soundproof accommodations help bring modern-day comforts to the outdoors. Begin your day by heading to the nearby lake where over 200 avian friends chirp merrily. Next, trek along the camp-side woods where neel gai, jackals, and wild hogs seek refuge. On returning to the property, head to the lakeside Baradari restaurant and indulge in delicious and organic Indian and international fare, including Italian and barbecued treats. End your day with RAAS’ Ayurvedic and Tibetan spa therapies at their in-house spa, before slipping into a deep slumber in family-style tents.

Sustainability Measures

Sustainability and community investment lies at the heart of all the RAAS properties. Take RAAS Jodhpur, for instance. During construction, the team deployed 70 per cent of their material and labour from a 30-kilometre radius of the property. Moreover, they also restored the 300-feet deep Toorji ka Jhalra step-well—constructed by the Queen of Mewar—in 2016, in turn breathing life into the forgotten structure. At RAAS Devigarh, RAAS’ charitable arm, Virasat Foundation, renovates and refurbishes government-run schools in the area. This includes everything, from painting classrooms to building clean toilets and ensuring potable drinking water. On the other hand, the re-wilding project to increase green cover by constantly monitoring the forest’s health is undertaken at RAAS Chhatrasagar. At all three properties, a no single-use plastic policy, and reliance on organic gardens permeate.

RAAScals

Understanding that post-COVID-19 travels beckon for nature-infused family vacations, RAAScals celebrates just that and more. Apart from offering families the luxury of being one with nature, they’ve also got art classes, pottery workshops, kite flying lessons, treasure hunts, picnics, wildlife quizzes, nature walks, cooking classes and lake cruises. For parents, two spa therapies have been thrown into the mix as well. Priced at INR 1,00,000 for three nights, this offer is valid till October 31, 2020, at RAAS Chhatrasagar.

SPECIAL OFFER

RAASHopper

Despite the lull in travelling in 2020, RAAS Hotels understands a wanderer’s itch. Metaphorically rewinding to a simpler time, RAAS hopes to make the prospect of travelling sweeter with discounted rates of yore, without compromising on hygiene and safety. With this offer, a traveller can ‘hop’ from one RAAS property to another with ease—owing to their easy driving distance from one another—and immerse in the complete RAAS experience. For example, a five-night stay starting at a price of INR 60,000 (for a luxury room in Jodhpur; a Palace Suite in Devigarh; and a Luxury tent in Chhatrasagar) includes breakfast for two, a complimentary meal at each hotel, 20 per cent discount on all F&B, a complimentary curated experience unique to each property, and personal yoga sessions. The option to ‘hop’ between properties also extends for a seven-night stay and a nine-night stay, respectively.
