Virgin Voyages‘ first-ever ship, The Scarlet Lady, has made its debut in England. It will take passengers on a journey worth remembering. By Tanvi Jain
Virgin Group founder Richard Branson has recently unveiled Virgin Voyages’ first ever cruise ship — the Scarlet Lady — in Dover, England. It is a 17-deck adults-only ship and comes with outstanding features like marble-clad bathrooms, spacious suites, grand spiral staircases, elegant cocktail bars and an outdoor running track. Although the buffet is banned, the ship has over 20 eateries run by Michelin-star chefs.
The interiors have been designed by top designers including Tom Dixon. The Roman and Williams design studio, known for designing celebrity homes, and The Standard Highline in New York City, also lend their touches to creating the aesthetic. Moreover, with options like music gigs, club nights, comedy shows, and drag-artist performances, the voyagers can expect some next-level entertainment on-board.
With 1,330 cabins, 78 Rockstar suites, in-room guitars, and amplifiers, the ship is sure to take you on a musical voyage. Furthermore, for an ultimate relaxing experience amid the high seas, the ship also has facilities like spas, gyms, yoga, wellness pools, and even a mudroom on board.
However, building all this was not a cakewalk. The Scarlet Lady arrived in the UK after going through sea trials out of the port of Genoa in Italy, for five days.
From Dover, the ship will head to Liverpool for two days then across the Atlantic to New York, and then to Miami. In April it will set off for a trip around the Caribbean.
Five-day routes include sailing to Costa Maya in Mexico, Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, Key West, and the Bahamas.
It doesn’t end here as Scarlet Lady is just the first of four Virgin Voyages’ ships scheduled to come to service for the next four years. The second ship expected to make its debut in May 2021 will be the Valiant Lady, which will feature seven-night Mediterranean itineraries out of Barcelona, Spain.
