Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s towering statue in Gujarat — the tallest in the world — popularly known as the Statue of Unity, is all set to reopen for public from tomorrow — the first day of Navratri — after being shut since March due to the COVID-19 induced nationwide lockdown.

Standing proudly at the shore of the Narmada River in Kevadia Colony facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam, the statue will be thrown open for visitors, in compliance with a new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which have been released by its managing body, Sardar Ekta Trust.

Since ensuring social distancing is the top priority for the authorities, a maximum of 2,500 people will be allowed entry to the monument every day. And, out of these 2,500, only 500 will get to visit the top-most gallery of the statue. No tickets will be available at the venue, and instead will be available online at soutickets.in, which you’ll have to buy within a window of just two hours. All the incoming visitors will have to adhere to the safety measures related to preventing the spread of coronavirus, such as wearing a mask at all times, sanitising your hands frequently, and maintaining social distancing.

So, if you have made up your mind to pay a visit to the Statue of Unity, make sure to also check out the nearby attractions, such as, Safari Park, Ekta Mall and Nutrition Park, which are already open for tourists.

In fact, coming October 31, the state of Gujarat is also all set to introduce its first ever seaplane service from Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad to Statue of Unity in Kevadia, at INR 4,800 per person, which will reportedly be launched by Prime Minister Modi, on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — also noted as the National Unity Day.
