The actors along with Cabinet minister of Maharashtra, Aslam Shaikh, have started an initiative called ‘Prema Cha Dabba’ through which they have been providing meals to the affected dabbawalas and their families. “It’s an initiative started by Aslam Bhai and Sanju. I had no hesitation in joining hands with them. ‘Prema Cha Dabba’ becomes even more beautiful when everyone gets together,” said Shetty (as reported on Hindustan times.com).
The group has already sent out food trucks to Pune where the dabbawalas have camped themselves and have so far distributed 800 kits of lentils, rice, flour, oil, and sugar. An NGO called Save The Children India that has been active in the region, has asked their staff to take care of the on-ground operations.
