Surrender yourself to the mysticism of the mountains at the upcoming Unheard Music & Arts Festival in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala. By Bayar Jain
Face it, one never needs a reason to escape to the mountains, let alone go out looking for an excuse to justify the impromptu road trip to the higher altitudes. However, a music festival can double as a justification for it, especially if its in the relatively calm environs of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Coming March 7 to March 9, 2020, the majestic Himalayas will echo to the tunes of the Unheard Music & Arts Festival, a feast of Indie musicians and immersive art workshops spread over three days and two nights.
Set to be held at the Hill Ventures Park, around 15-kilometres away from Dharamshala, the Unheard Festival will be spread over four acres, shadowed by the mighty Dhauladhar Ranges. Indie musicians such as Gaurav Kadu from Fiddlecraft, singer-songwriter Danish Jaitly, blues singer-songwriter Kalyaani, Jammu and Kashmir’s folk musician Aashran Mahajan, and protest artists Fakiri are some of the 16 artists that are going to enthral audiences. On the other hand, comedians such Jasmeet Singh Bhatia (Jizzy), Ravi Gupta, Saurabh Pandey are going to leave you in splits.
Once done rocking to soulful beats, you can even try your hand at a range of immersive workshops. Whether its releasing inner angst and healing the soul during the Drum Circle Workshop, doodling away to glory at the Musical Doodling Workshop or trying your hand at Nati, a famous folk dance of the upper Himachal area, you’re sure to find something to catch your fancy. After all, they offer 10 different workshops to choose from! Many adventure activities like ATV ride, rock climbing, rappelling, slingshot-bungee, zipline, trekking, and archery will also be available at the village, giving every guest a rush of the much-needed mountain adrenaline. Pair this with the flea market set up in the camping village, and you’ve got everything you need to create a complete package.
MyWanderlust, the hosts of this weekend festival, have also taken care of Holi – which will be coinciding with the final day of the fun. A waterless celebration will amp up the fun, while local food stalls will keep you happily stuffed.
Ticket options include both festival as well as stay passes, and you can choose among basic trekking tents, dorm tents and Swiss tents.
