Travel To The Heart Of Kashmir With These Bollywood Movies

Amidst lockdown, here’s a list of movies that will virtually transport you to the magical land of Kashmir. Bollywood has been fascinated with the valley since time immemorial, so we thought of taking you on a virtual tour of Kashmir with some iconic Bollywood movies. By Kumar Shree

1. Aiyaary

Before we say anything about how Aiyaary showcases Kashmir, read what Manoj Bajpayee, said in an interview, “I had a great time in Kashmir… It is a wonderful place with magnificent locations, friendly people, and an extremely pleasant climate.” Well, that kind of sums it up for us, right! Watch Aiyaary and explore Gulmarg and Pahalgam from your home today.

2. Bajrangi Bhaijaan

The Salman Khan starer takes you on a dreamy ride as it traces through the verdant valleys of Kashmir. Filmed in places like Sonmarg and Zoji La, the movie showcases snow-capped mountains and the quiant life of Kashmir. The climax was shot in the scenic region of Sonmarg near the Thajiwas glacier, which sits at 10,000 ft above sea level.

3. Haider

We will not say much about why you should watch Haider. For starters, it is an adaptation of The Immortal Bard’s classic creationHamlet, and it is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, one of the best filmmakers and musicians we’ve ever seen in this country. Now, let’s help you with a list of locations that you’ll get to see via Haider — Aishan Sahab Zaina Kadal Bridge in old Srinagar, Anantnag, Dal Lake, Hazratbal, Martand Sun Temple, Mattan, Naseem Bagh (at Kashmir University Garden), Nishat Bagh, Qazigund, and Sonmarg.

4. Highway

If it’s an Imtiaz Ali film, it’ll definitely have some travel bit to it, and that rings true for Highway as well. The movie takes you through the picturesque Aru Valley and makes the scenic location come alive with its charming songs, and outdoor shots.

5. Raazi

Here comes another Alia Bhatt movie on the list. The movie takes you through Doodhpathri in Budgam district, Pahalgam, and Shivpora in Srinagar while keeping you hooked with its captivating storyline based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat.

Other movies that take you on a virtual tour of Kashmir are Saat Khoon Maaf, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Jab Takk Hai Jaan, Aap Ki Kasam, Lamhaa, Fitoor, Phantom, and 3 Idiots.
